Elton Hall is where I believe our ancestor, Charles Chadburn worked as a servant and barber. It was from here that he was convicted of stealing a brass pan and sentenced to 7 years convict labour in Hobart Town, Tasmania, Australia. I have written to Lady Proby of Elton Hall, to find out if the family had any records of staff who would have worked at the Hall around the years that Charles would have been. At present, I haven't had a reply but I am hoping to be able to confirm this.
